Tonight at 10:09 c., it will officially be Fall! If you did not know, the first day of autumn is marked when the Autumnal Equinox occurs (always in September) and today is that day! There is also a Spring Equinox, which usually falls on my birthday, and then a Summer and Winter Solstice. But what is an equinox? Well, it is when the sun crosses the celestial equator and moves southward in the northern hemisphere. The location on the earth where the sun is directly overhead at solar noon is known as the subsolar point. The subsolar point occurs on the equator during the September equinox. At that time, the earth’s axis of rotation is perpendicular to the line connecting the centers of the earth and the sun.
OK....so we are not all scientist, so here is a picture to help better explain.
I hope that helps a little bit, if you even care. Well the most important part about this is that tonight marks the night that we (those of us in the south don't get your hopes up on some of these) will get to experience.....
Some beautiful changing leaves....
Fall boots!!!!!!
Halloween.....
Thanksgiving....YUM YUM
and HOPEFULLY some cooler football games for those of us down south who are just waiting for that cold front to come through!
HAPPY FALL!!
Come on Julie, boots are for all times of year.
