Que Sera

This song has been stuck in my head now for a couple of days, so I thought that if i post it, then it will finally go away.

I love the movie "The Man Who Knew Too Much" and I love Doris Day.  But what I love most about this song is that it is true.  We can't go through life holding back because we are scared, sad, or whatever.  Life is about living, so live.  Do what YOU want to do and whatever happens, will happen!  You only live once, so live with no regrets.

Weddings and Reunions

So this past weekend I went to my friend Ashley's wedding.  Ashley and I have been friends since 7th grade and it was weird to think that she was the first of my good friends from high school to get married.  Though it was weird to watch, her wedding was so much fun!  She, like always, looked absolutely beautiful and seeing tons of old friends was a blast!!  I loved high school and some of my best friends have been in my life since Jr. High/High School.  So I thought that I would use this post as a flashback to some of the best times I had during grade school!

Some old cheer friends

Please don't shoot me Michelle, but this has always been my favorite picture of us!

Just Call Me Julia Child

So I've decided to dedicate this blog post to my MeMe, because she has been
the one encouraging me to cook more.  So I have taken her words of wisdom, and I have cooked more.  I am the master of microwaving frozen chicken and veggies and calling that cooking, but this semester I have really started trying to ACTUALLY cook.  Now,  if you know my mom and you have either had a baby, gotten sick, bought a house, had someone die, or live with me/my brother; then you know that Jill can make one heck of a casserole.  Well because of her and her awesome recipes, I can make a pretty decent casserole  along with pot roast and any other way to throw crap in a pot/pan and cook it kind of meal.  But I wanted to learn how to cook something else, like roasted chicken for instance. Now I was not going to just go buy a bunch of random stuff, throw it on a chicken and call it good.  So, I started easy.  I bought a McCormick Recipe Inspiration for Rosemary Roasted Chicken and Potatoes and oh my gosh was is not just Delicious! All I had to buy was the chicken because I had the potatoes and olive oil.  It was so easy.  I  cut the chicken up and mixed it and the potatoes with the blended spices that it gives you, along with the olive oil.  After roasting it for 45 mins and throwing some steamed veggies with it !VUALA! you have yourself a delicious dinner with leftovers, well if you are cooking for one like me.  So cooking healthy can be cheap, easy and might I say fun after all, you just have to know where to start.

One Domestic Day

So for weeks I have wanted to go junk shopping.  Why?  Because it's fun and I like to search for lost treasure.  So this morning, my friend Christal and I decided to get in the car and drive to the country.  Well, our little trip was a blast and it gave us a chance to get out on this beautiful day and enjoy small town USA.

Driving through the country roads of Alabama

We saw this....

and this...

rummaged through all of this...

saw the only stop light

bought these!!!  (they were $8 for the whole set)

So after buying plates, I became in the domestic mood.

So I baked these...from scratch

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Coco Cookies
(I couldn't find a receipt where I had all of the ingredients, so I just made up my own)

then I spray painted my green wine rack

it looked like this...

and then this...

and now this...

no more green, just pewter

Finally I cleaned my rug.  Our  air-conditioner broke and leaked all over the kitchen floor.  So after a day and a half of the rug sitting in stale water, and then getting wet again after trying to air it out on my balcony due to a night shower, it smelled really bad.  So I scrubbed it down with warm water and dish soap and let it dry in the sun and now it smells MUCH Better!

After doing all of this, as well as vacuuming the downstairs, I sat down and enjoyed not having to do anything for school!

Today was a great day!

Smiles Make You Feel Better

I have previously talked about how
a smile a day can keep the doctor away.  Well, I have told myself this semester that no matter what, I am going to keep on smiling.  Even if I get stressed out with work, I am going to smile and go with it.  Just changing my mind set has made me feel better.  I used to doubt myself and not really have excitement for the next step (his was probably because I hated school because it took me so long to comprehend a subject) But now that I am out of the books and experiencing the real world, I am so excited for the next step!

I guess this makes it easier for me to be happy, but times can still be hard.  We all have our days/weeks/months where we just want to throw in the towel, but it is when I experience these times I tell myself that IT WILL GET BETTER. It may not seem like it will get better, but it will.  This is where I would say, God has a plan for me, but I am not.  Last night at Bible study, Lee brought up a great point.  Yes God does have a plan for me, but I cannot just sit around and wait for it.  His plan for me is to live my life with his Grace. No matter what I think, I can't mess up his plan.  There are no wrong turns; only turns that will help me reveal what it is that I AM supposed to do or WHERE I am supposed to go.  If I move to a place that is wrong for me, then guess what, I know that for the future.  If I take a job that I hate, well then I know to check that off and move on!  God does not care about where I go or what I do, as long as I am Glorifying him along the way.  This really opened my eyes and made me relax, so now all I am going to do is SMILE about my future.  So bring it on real world, I can handle it!

This video makes me smile, so I wanted to share it with whoever reads this

What a Great Day!

From sun up to sun down, today was a day that put a smile on my face!

At my church, we are in a six (or seven) week series called I Am.  This week Brian, our worship leader,  preached on how God is the Light of the World.  This sermon really hit me today because as I have written previously, I am stressing about finding a job.  But though I am stressing, I am putting all of my worries in God's hands because I am blessed to have that relationship with him.  I was reminded this morning that if I Live (actually have that deep connection) with God, Talk to him and actually Listen, then I will have his Light shine on me.  If i try to go through life on my own, I will be in the dark and I won't be able to get out.     But that reminder was only a start to my great day.

When I got home from church and having lunch with three of my best friends, I decided that it was going to be cleaning day.  Now, I try to clean my house every other weekend from kitchen-bathroom.  But because of Spring Break, I had not cleaned in a while.  So today, I did.  I started in the kitchen from sweeping, mopping and vacuuming the floors; scrubbing down the counters, sink and table; vacuuming (the floors and furniture) and dusting the living room;  vacuuming my room, shaking out the rugs, dusting and organizing my closet shelf; mopping the bathroom floor, cleaning the sink, counters, mirrors and shower.  WHEH sounds like a lot but it NEEDED to be done.

During the midst of my cleaning frenzy, I found out that I had been accepted for another round of the interview process for YES Prep in Houston.  I am so ecstatic because my interviewer told me that I would not find out if I would move on until Thursday, and here I am finding out the next day, let alone a Sunday.  So please keep me in your prayers because I think that this would be a great job for me, but I am also not giving up on the job hunt, so if you hear of anything then feel free to let me know!

To end the night, my friend Christal and I went to our church to watch the Mwangaza Children's Choir.  This is a choir that is on an American tour from the Central part of Uganda.  All of the kids are have sponsors through African Renewal Ministries (I have blogged about this program before).  They were absolutely phenomenal! Christal and I both were moved to tears because they were so precious and they were full of the Lord.  This is a great program to support and I know that when I have a job with an incoming salary, I will sponsor a child.

Now that I am ending the night, sitting here in my comfortable bed, I am listening to great music and watching an awesome rainstorm outside with a big smile on my face.  I love thunderstorms, especially when they are at night.  I just open my door, light some candles, put on soft music and get lost in my thoughts.
