Now, what in the world do you do when it feels like 115 degrees out side? Well, you start early, duh.
Our day began around 7:00 this morning and we first headed out to Bahrain National Museum. We had the whole museum to ourselves with a private tour. We learned all about ancient Bahrain as well as customs and traditions. It was an amazing experience and a great way to beat the heat (but maybe a little long).
From there, we went on a nice long walk around Bahrain to see a couple of homes from the old city that have been completely redone and are now local libraries and little museums. We were all surprised to actually walk the streets and it was such a cool experience. We soaked in all of our surroundings by smelling the local food and moving about the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Next, we went to the local mall to eat lunch and walk around for a little while before heading out to the Fort of Bahrain. The fort was SO cool, but it was SO hot!!! The fort was one of my favorite places because of the detail and history there (and the amazing view), but we did not stay long because of the heat and other places to be. I wish we could have gone early in the morning when it wasn't so hot and we could have enjoyed it a little more.
Lastly, we went to a Wildlife Park where we saw native animals to the region (meaning lots of goats and sheep....and more goats). By this time of the day, we were all EXHAUSTED from being outside and obviously so were the animals because we didn't see any of the cool ones, except a couple of camels and giraffes. But it was cool to see the natural desert terrain that is so infamous to the Arabian Peninsula.
Now it is only 5:00, we are so tired and just chilling around our 5 star hotel (which is fabulous). After the lack of sleep I had last night, I know I will crash tonight.
